For South Africans who buy the book we offer this advice: Head straight to page 57 and read about the great Bobby Locke. What a great golfer, what a sad story! Bobby Locke's story should be prescribed reading not just for golf enthusiast, but for ALL SOUTH AFRICANS. This is one South African sporting legend who has not been honoured ENOUGH!

The sad end to Bobby Locke's story is this: He invested some of his winnings on a block of flats in Yeoville, then a posh surburb of Johannesburg. As you know, Yeoville started deteriorating during the late eighties which is around the time Bobby Locke died (1987). His Canadian-born wife, Mary, and his daughter lived in the block of flats and tried unsuccesfully to sell it. The wife and daughter are said to have lived a very reclusive life after that. During the early 2000's the wife and daughter committed a suicide pact. "They had been dead for several days when they were found barricated in the block of flats at Yeoville. The smart surburb, once an elite part of town, had deteriorated greatly. They strived to sell the property but nobody was interested, so they decided to end their lives together - a sad end to the story of one of the best competitors I ever saw."

The story of Bobby Locke above should indicate to anyone who's reading this page the intimate detail that the author has of all the golf legends he discusses in his book. It's really an amazing book.
